Secondary hot water system

Hi,

I have just bought a Gledhill unvented twin coil cylinder as part of my heating upgrade, but it does not have a secondary DHW return fitting. Is it possible to have a hot water loop and return the water to the cold water inlet? This particular cylinder has a diffuser on the cold water inlet side designed to mix up the water in the tank so that the whole tank is hot; therefore I would think that a gentle stream of warm water coming in would not upset the cylinder too much? Any thoughts greatly appreciated...

Thanks,
Simon

Why -- maximise your heat losses that way!!

My preference would be to minimise them

I have some long pipe runs to hot water outlets, and I like the idea of having hot water available as soon as the taps are turned on. I am looking at the IPPEC Advanced Plumbing System using Pexapipe in conduit, which should minimise heat loss on the return line. The savings would be realised by not having to run the tap for 30 seconds each time to get hot water at the tap.

Yea but er but you must still loose on the deal

How about a multi operation timer on the pump?

Thanks Tony. I had planned on either a timer so that the pump was only running during the day, or even fit a PIR to the bathroom and kitchen to run the pump in anticipation of water being required. However, the main question remains as to getting the return water back into the cylinder without a secondary DHW return...
