Hi, I am new to this forum and am trying to move into a greener lifestyle way of living. I am currently planning a new build in Hungary where I have a rural plot . There is already a building there but it is a flimsily built summer dwelling which I will be using the footprint of, and hopefully using the material from its dismantling . The first question I have, of many over the next few weeks/months, is regarding the main structure . I am in the south of the country where in winter the temperature can go below -10 and during summer goes above 30. What I am trying to find is a type of wall that is capable of being self built and cost effective that will cope with this range of temperatures with a good thermal mass.
I will be doing as much of the build myself as I am taking time out to do so , I am a joiner who has a lot of furniture and internal experience but very limited structural joinery experience who is hoping that my general skills and knowledge should get me most of the way there.
While looking into this I have come across a product called a steko block which seems to be a recycled wooden lego block. These dry stack just like lego and are hollow to fill with your desired insulation , has any one come across these or had experience first or second hand . Are they a green product.
