I have just picked this book up again for a quick read and I think it may yet have it's day. John yeoman, the author is a frank talking self-made man by the looks of things and he seems to enjoy himself in this survival book.
Though a couple of the financial golden nuggets are now out of date (because it was written when bank interest rates were really high), I think it could well be worth a read for anyone thinking along the lines of trying to be self sufficient.
Borrow a copy from your local library first to see if you like his writing style but well worth looking out because it is just about the most contemporary 'practical' doomsday cookbook you will find.

Self Reliance: A Recipe for the New Millennium (Paperback) by John Yeoman (Author) I just had a look at the number of views of your post, Keith, and saw it was high, but no comments. I googled the isbn number and found it is available from Amazon, or you can just read the reviews there.People mostly seem to like it very much, so it is perhaps worth bumping it up on the forum!
