Rotting felt at edge of roof

I have seen a black plastic, almost flat profile in 1.5m lengths, which can be inserted under the felt to catch the water off the felt and direct it into the guttering. We have concrete roof tiles with 40 ish year old felt under them.

Does anyone have any comments about using this, or is there a better product/method for the more aware DIY person.

I am also replacing the soffit and facia boards which are past re-painting, and replacing the guttering (with a galvanised steel product).

You need these really as even the new breather membranes are not really any good at directing water into the gutter properly. Most builders merchants probably stock them.
