Tenants could save hundreds after eco-works

Social housing tenants in the West Midlands are set to save "hundreds of pounds" on their household bills after the completion of a £11 million eco improvement programme. Social landlord Whitefriars Housing has spent three years making its homes more energy efficient - and has claimed that some tenants could see savings of up to £300 a year.

Bristol leads the way in energy saving

Bristol City Council has today signed a deal that aims to provide a dramatic improvement in the energy efficiency of the city’s homes. Over the next four years, Climate Energy will visit every property in the city and offer householders an energy efficiency survey.

New fuel poverty proposals full of holes

Stay of execution for low impact dwelling

A couple ordered to take down a wooden eco-house built without planning permission have been given a stay of execution. Jules Smith, 54, and Matt Lepley, 34, have been told their Devon home "sits very comfortably" with planning guidance on sustainable developments.
