The work involved gaining access to the wall plate area and to the top of the cavity. This was conveniently achieved by carefully taking off the bottom row of large concrete pantiles and turning back the sarking felt. As mentioned in the article in the last edition we already knew that the top of the cavity had been closed in a most inappropriate and old fashioned way with a course of bricks.
