Swansea Tidal Lagoon gets the green light

The building of a tidal lagoon in Swansea Bay has been given the go-ahead by the UK government. Intending developer Tidal Lagoon Power (TLP) says it will now negotiate how much subsidy will be paid for the energy.

Scottish community enterprises benefit from bag charge

Social Investment Scotland (SIS) has awarded almost £156,000 funding to five community based social enterprises across Scotland, thanks to money raised in the first six months by Asda’s Community Capital Fund through the Scottish Government’s 5p single use carrier bag charge.

Still too much plastic in compost says watchdog

There continues to be unacceptable levels of plastic contamination in green and garden waste delivered to composting sites throughout the UK, according to the Renewable Energy Association (REA), a recent edition of 'Countryfile' highlighted the problem.
