Lots of Greenwash...
We exhibited at Eco build and from the start I was keen to ensure that our stand was as eco friendly as the service we were there to promote.

We used greengraphics to create our displays which are reusable and recyclable board stands, we had minimal lighting and any handouts we gave out were printed on sustanable resources and promotional items obtained from fair trade suppliers.

I am surprised that so few exhibitors took this into account and hope this improves next year.

First hand experience of this show and the organisers
We built a stand at Ecobuild this year for a client which was a re-use of a previous stand, so with minimal new build.
I was pretty surprised how little emphasis the organisers put on encouranging exhibitors to think green when producing their stands. There was a very small paragraph in the exhibitors manual on this but that is all. When I questioned the whole issue with them and said it should be an integral part of this show (and others!) they didn't seem interested at all. As a designer and supplier of exhibition stands I specify eco alternatives where possible and push my build contractors to think this way as well. A huge mindset change is needed and this should come from show organisers, designers, stand builders as well as exhibitors.
At Ecobuild I just felt suspicious of the products on display - how green were they really if they hadn't thought much about the real eco credentials of their marketing.
