A development of green homes in Pudsey, Yorkshire, is the latest scheme from Yorkshire Housing, which is currently building around 300 new sustainable and affordable homes a year. The Meadows scheme, on Waterloo Grove, has been developed in partnership with the Homes and Communities Agency, Leeds City Council and West North West Homes.

The project features 22 houses including four four-bedroom homes and 18 three-bedroom homes with an additional 12 two-bedroom apartments available at social and sub market rents.
Each one is built to have minimum impact on the environment, using 'green' materials in their construction and achieving a high standard of energy efficiency once complete.
Both houses and apartments are aimed at helping to fulfil the need for affordable housing for young professional singles, couples and families from the Leeds area and from the council housing register.
Linda Gray, development project manager for Yorkshire Housing, said: "This is a state-of-the-art development which offers a wide variety of homes for people in and around the Pudsey area. Through the new development scheme at the Meadows, we aim to help people live independently and offer comfortable and affordable accommodation.
"These properties are a wonderful example of how funding is being used in partnership with housing associations to deliver housing for people. These homes will make a big difference to the lives of the people in the Pudsey area".
The next scheme in the pipeline is for 66 new affordable sustainable homes in the New Lodge area of Barnsley in partnership with Barnsley Council and Berneslai Homes. Existing difficult to let and unsustainable housing stock which is managed by Berneslai Homes on behalf of Barnsley Council, will replaced with a new development of highly sustainable homes, helping tenants save money on their energy and utility bills.
In total, around 150 new homes have been ear marked for the area and are being developed over a split phased development schedule. Phase 1 began on-site in March 2009 and is set to complete by the middle of 2010.
Phase 1 of the development has so far received £2.8 million of funding from the Homes and Communities Agency, with Yorkshire Housing contributing the remaining amount.
