Hi I am Anne and my question please, is should I use Holkhams boiled or un-boiled linseed oil on my oak window frames in timber cottage.
Cannot remember which I used before, and now some of them are 'sticky' and some facing south have the black spots and even worse on the cills, even though I live in the country.
Advice would be most welcome, thank you.

You need to use boiled linseed oil as it penetrates whereas un-boiled will not. Oak windows would cope without anything though.

JFJ joinery have been manufacturing oak windows dating back to 1853. I have still not found the perfect finish. Most recently we have a uv resistant oil made by treatex. Many of our customers are very pleased with the results they have had from this product. For interior use on floors window sills and beams etc their treatex hardwax oil is certainly the best product on the market. Always happy to chat about the details of treatex and our experience with this product.
