Once again this September aspiring green refurbishers can visit Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian & post-war Superhomes. All will have been renovated to reduce carbon by at least 60%, many using alternative heating sources and even producing surplus energy.
Visitors can see technology in action - Heat Pumps, Solar PV, Solar Thermal, Biomass, Wood Stoves, combined with Triple glazing, LED lighting, MVHR, all kinds of Insulation. They can hear the inside story on how to make a home eco friendly, sustainable, and low carbon, how to achieve minimal energy bills yet enjoy improved comfort, how to start green living and make an eco-retrofit succeed.
Then there's tips to cut utility bills and save money, and advice from people who've been there on what works and what doesn't. Visiting a SuperHome is a great way to introduce friends and colleagues to the possibilities for a greener future.
40 Open Day events are already confirmed for September's Open Days. Intending visitors should book early as spaces are limited on the popular tours. More homes will be added over the coming months, there's always a diverse range of house types, heating technologies and insulation types to choose from. You can book to visit one with an air source or ground source heat pump, a biomass boiler, external or internal wall insulation, or with both. There’s architectural magic, new technologies plus timeless classics to explore. You can even stay overnight in a SuperHome in one of the most stunning locations in Britain !
