Refills for jars of coffee

How is it that refill packs for jars of coffee cost more per 100g than the it costs per 100g in the jars?

Do they think we are stupid or is that "green" sells better?

I think it's partly true that 'they' think we're stupid in terms of what they can get away with. Maybe they will claim higher transport costs of coffee packed in glass jars over the same stuff in plastic packes?
Did you see that thing recently about someone who wanted to run a 'super truck' on UK roads because he wanted to move bigger loads of crisps? Quite horrifying when you think how many massive artics are ploughing up and down our motorways full of vital supplies of crisps, or Quavers. Or Jablite come to that.

But I always thought that crisps were a vital source of energy for the young people, washed down with fizzy drinksShades
