puzzled by DHW figures
I was puzzled by the figures for Domestic Hot Water.

Firstly, the COP of 3 is the same figure as was used for space heating. DHW is much hotter, so it can't be the same COP! I guess 3 is more likely to be accurate for space heating, which is another way of saying I doubt the figure for DHW :)

Then I don't follow the rest of the arithmetic. If solar thermal provides 60% of requirements, it's providing 1440 kWh leaving 960 kWh that needs to be produced by the heat pump. So I guess the real claim is that the power needed to drive the heat pump is 300 kWh (which should be 320 using the dubious COP?)

I'm also dubious about the stated figures for power from PV, though I'm no expert. Both space heating and backing up DHW supplied primarily by solar are seasonal demands so it makes no sense to use annual averages. Instead, the average value over the heating season should be used. For the DHW, it may be even worse since there won't be much sunlight at the times the solar DHW needs most help!
